Luna Catalan

Luna Catalan is a fine artist from Toronto, Canada. Her love of creative mediums earned her one of 6 spots in Cardinal Carter Academy for the Arts where she majored in the Visual Arts program. It was there that she was discovered and commissioned by conglomerate Nike to edit advertisement posters for the 2010 Women’s Essentials line under the supervision of Nicey Summers.

Despite her father encouraging her to take over the family videography business, alongside 6 years of wedding photography and editing experience under her belt, Luna knew deep down that capturing events through a camera lens wasn’t enough to fulfill the artistic void — she knew she wanted to be a mixed media artist and live entertainer.

In doing so, Luna pursued General Arts studies at Sheridan College before transitioning to Schulich Business at York University. Using her honed skills in photography and videography combined with art school training, she now paints at special events all over the city. She proudly serves the greater Toronto area and abroad.

Artist Statement

“Moons always put on quite the show with their changes in shape, color and nuance. They are the universe’s constant reminder to us that no matter what phase we are enduring, we are still whole. My practise is a constant battle between painting and drawing, and everything else in between. Whatever I create in the studio, I seek to impart a sense of vitality and joy; a celebration of a life well lived. As your live painter and portrait artist, I aim to illuminate what the cameras couldn’t capture and transcend it onto the canvas using traditional mediums and techniques.”

Proudly serving the Greater Toronto area and abroad
